LOST

I am musing about....

LOST

We were making good time. Bluffton and our daughter and her family's home was drawing nearer with each traversed mile! Good thing. It was late. It was dark and we were tired.

Route 124 from Peru to Bluffton can be somewhat challenging. The first trek is winding with sharp curves and angles. Once it straightens out...it is stop sign after stop sign! But the biggest frustration are the never ending detours. You would think by now that road would be in tip top shape! We get out pretty often, and it seems like you never know when or where that detour sign will pop up, but you can pretty well bet on it (if we bet:), that one will. So, we turn. We try to read the sign to get an idea of how far parallel we need to go with 124 before we can head back and hope we missed the construction area.

But this is the main problem! There are no signs! Once you turn, the route is unclearly marked. Well....not marked. Or so has been our experience most of the time!

Have you ever tried meandering through unfamiliar country roads at night? Roads that become gravel, or go at an angle or end of winding through a wooded area? It seems we have done it all. Believe me...it is no fun!

You feel frustrated, challenged, confused (even though you know the general direction you are heading) and well....lost. Kind of.

If only there were signs, telling us where to go! It would be a clear different experience. It would create a sense of well being and peace. Although no one likes delays, if we are confident that we are still "on the right track" it makes all the difference.

And so it is in our spiritual walk.

What would we do without God's Word, our road map, to help us navigate life's pathway.

I shared this story with a friend who has recently surrendered her life to Jesus. When I shared about how I felt while we meandered through the dark, unknown roads, she related that that is how she felt before she came to Jesus. Frustrated, aimless, lost.

How thankful we are that we have been...

FOUND!

And for our Finder's Holy Word to help keeping us from being.....

Lost!

What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.  And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!Luke 15:4-6

God Stories. What's yours?

I am marveling at God stories. What's yours?? Our daughter has a good friend. Her name is Stephanie. She is creative, talented, bubbly, sensitive and loves Jesus! And she wrote a book. For kids. About God. Called Always Remember . It is different then most kid's books. It has a poetic lilt which is beautiful, but atypical in its cadence. It's wording is unique; yet lovely. It is simple and it is deep.  It's premise is pivotal, declaring Truth! It is almost layered in that each reading of this basically simple book helps peel back another level of understanding and appreciation. It is a book that is actually instructional. It should be read often as a way to reflect and then to live. The main theme is teaching kids (and adults alike) to... Stop. Ponder. Remember God. To see Him every day in everything. To align daily with who He is. It is beautifully illustrated, with large colorful pictures that engage, teach, enlighten and intrigue. She shared how the book was firs...

There once was a fly....

I am musing on a story that begins like this.... There once was a fly. There once was a fly. It lived in Salt Lake City. More specifically, in Kingsbury Hall on the campus of the University of Utah. Kingsbury Hall is the Performing Arts Center. So that fly had the opportunity to view many productions. Last night, that fly was viewing a televised production that likely millions were watching. As that fly buzzed around, it decided to land on a nice head of white hair. And stay there awhile. Little did he know, that he was sitting on the head of the Vice President of the United States. Little did he know how important the role of Vice President of the United States is. Little did he know how important the upcoming election which was being debated is. Little did he know how much of that country's future was at stake. Little did he know how many prayers were being offered for that man upon whose head he sat... and  for those he works with Little did he know of the challenges that...

Did you know our brother Jim? Did you ever talk to him? Because if you did It's safe to say, There's a good chance  you made his day. He loved people, There is no doubt  He liked to visit Liked to find things out Not in a gossipy sort of way That was not Jim's kind of way, He simply cared  Took an interest you see, He just enjoyed knowing  About you and me, He loved his Jesus With all his heart He leaned on him greatly He did from the start, After he surrendered, Back in 78, From that time on He served love from his plate, He enjoyed little kids Had a heart for the old, He loved to sing, Had a faith that was bold, Took care of his mom With kindness and care, Took her for rides, They were quite a pair, They gardened together, Made apple sauce, As boys worked on their farm, He was a fun, friendly boss, He was a farmer Through and through, He embraced all the things That grain farmers do, Then there was that day Five years ago, When things changed forever An acci...
