Ponies and Prayers

I am musing about..... Ponies and Prayers A friend of mine posted a fun question on Facebook the other day. She asked "What would your occupation be if you had followed your childhood dreams?? So I answered her. Don't laugh now. I answered....a Jockey. Yep! You see, as a kid...horses were pretty much my life. Well, a good part of it, anyway. I LOVED them. Still do;)  My siblings and I "walked beans" for Dad, pulling weeds. We were given so much per row. Usually we would take 4 rows up and  4 rows back; 2 on either side of us. It brings back some pretty fun and nostalgic memories! Well, one year, Dad told me that I could get a long awaited and begged for pony as my pay. Wow, was I excited! The family that was renting our previous farmhouse were really "into" horses and had found a pony for me! What a bonus for me (not sure how my folks felt about it), when the pony turned up pregnant and we got a cute little newborn foal as part of the deal. We named them

Pomegranites and Cures

I am musing about.... Pomegranates and Cures What if everyone on earth had a fatal disease of cancer; in one form or another. What if I told you that I had gone to see Mr. Knows it All, the renowned Great Physician who specializes in love and knew the cure for all cancers? What if that cure was Pomegranates? The kind you could only get from the Great Physician. But you had to BELIEVE that these Pomegranates were the cure. You had to follow the instructions laid out by the Great Physician. You believed the story that the Great Physician shared of how His own son had to give His life, be buried and become part of the soil from which the Pomegranates were grown. That this Son miraculously was restored and was now helping his Father in the Pomegranate business? A business that was not about making money but restoring lives? What if it had gotten around via the media that Pomegranates were the cure. What if people had tried them, but they were getting their Pomegranates from a different s

Daring to Be a Daniel

I am musing about.... Daring to Be a Daniel How many of you remember that old Sunday School Song with this name that we sang with such  gusto as children? How many of your kids sang it when they were young? How many of you are still singing it with your kids or grandkids today? We sang it the other evening during an evening singing for a dear elderly lady from church. When I mentioned how this song has been on my mind lately with all that is going on in the world today, a sweet friend looked at me and with a smile asked if I had been "musing about it lately".   And thus this post (thanks Sandy):) And so. let's revisit the words from the chorus of this song:     Dare to be a Daniel,     Dare to stand alone,     Dare to have a purpose firm,     Dare to make it known. The melody of the song is decisive and strong, like the lyrics. I have always loved this song and found strength in the firm conviction and dedication it portrays and promotes. As Christians, from day one we

Stepping Out in Time

I am musing about.... Stepping Out in Time Underneath our basement steps is something really cool! Signatures. Lots of them! Precious personalized reminders of a sweet season of time. A time that seems like eons ago and yesterday...all at the same.... Time.  How can it slip by so quickly, so unnoticed? Until it becomes noticed. Back when our youngest was probably just starting High School, he and a musically inclined buddy came to me with an idea. "Hey mom," he said. "why don't we fix up the basement for a music studio? We will do the painting and help out with the project." Long story short, that is just what we did. We decided to "finish" our basement. We hired the big stuff done and the boys did a great job with the painting! We even had a talented friend of theirs paint an impressive mural on the wall with a large treble clef and a musical staff and some scripture from Psalms 9 and 47. As budding musicians who enjoyed jamming and making music tog
