The Warmth of Friendship

I am marveling about.... Being "Warm Within" I have a plaque over our Dining Room Table. I put it up for my Christmas and Winter decor and I love it. The plaque appropriately speaks to the picture that is hung above it. It is a canvas with the image of a welcoming cottage deep within a snow laden woods. The words on the plaque below it read:                                      "Cold outside, warm within                                Spending time with friends and kin" I don't know about you, friend, but I hate to be cold. On these chilly Winter days, I can open the garage door and that sensation of cold can cut like an icicle-shaped knife causing me to shut the door with a hastened though gentle slam. Whew! It just goes through a person. That chill. But then, the joy of warmth... -as I close the door to the elements and sense the protection and safety of my comfortable abode -as I take a deep swallow of hot cocoa and actually sense its heat making its way d

We won!

I am musing about how.... We won! Inauguration Day 2021. Take a deep breath. Breathe a prayer. Dig Deep. And rejoice! No matter what your political perspective, no matter how you voted last November, no matter what your personal desires, concerns, global and national dreams ..... If you are God's child, if you trust in Him, if you sincerely prayed for His will to be done.... It was! Rejoice. You got your way! God's will was done. And will continue to be. His Holy Word states that  "He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding."  Daniel 2:21 We do not know what is happening "behind the scenes", but we trust in the one who does. The one who is actually orchestrating all things. For His purposes and ultimately for His glory. So as a new era dawns, a new chapter opens, let us fortify and walk into it.  Knowing He walks with us. Let us be his hands and feet. His mouth

What I Saw Today

I am musing...                                                                                                            ~11/2020 about what I saw today I stepped into the med room this morning. It is a little room off of the west side nurse's station.  It was quiet back there. And what I saw made my heart sing with a sense of grateful comfort. There on the counter, someone had left an open Bible. It was sitting there, a testimony that someone had likely taken a moment to grab a deep breath  and glean some divine words of encouragement. It was still open, inviting others to also partake from the comfort of it's living pages. Like for so many, this has been a really tough season for all of us. Nurses, aides, administration, housekeeping, dietary, activities....we all have found ourselves caught up in a reality we did not realize we had signed up for. The extra logistics, anxieties, regulations. uncertainties, fogged up glasses, claustrophobic masks, staffing challenges, reside

Part II; The Tree

Yay! It survived! After 12 long, cold days, the sun has come out. In all its warmth and beauty it has done what we knew it would. As we walk outside we hear the sound of ice, melting and sliding from branches onto the ground below. We see the trees resurrecting once again to their natural and healthy stature. Oh the power of the sun! Many times during this past week I looked out the window and wondered if that birch would survive. I abashedly prayed for it, asking God..."If it is your will.....". With everything going on in the world, it seemed almost wrong to ask God for something so simple. But my Bible Study last week reinforced what deep in my heart I knew. God wants us to come to Him with everything; both the big and the small. To "not want to bother him" is to underestimate His power. And His care. I also told Him, that if it survived I would try to thank Him and think of Him as I looked at that "prayed over" tree in the days to come; a reminder of

The Giver

I am marveling at.... The Giver! This ice! This snow! So beautiful! We have a birch tree in our flower garden. It is lovely. It is presently at risk. Weighed down to the ground. Will it make it? I sure hope so! A friend of mine posted a similar picture on her Facebook feed of a Birch tree in their yard in similar peril. "What should I do?" she asked. Someone responded "pray for sunshine". And that is just what I had been thinking about. Maybe you have been too? As one may become burdened with the weight of sin and pride, may we bow down with humility and repentance and seek the SONSHINE, He who restores and redeems. The Giver of Life. And the Giver of such beauty!!
