Did you know Our Brother Jim?

Did you know our brother Jim?

Did you ever talk to him?

Because if you did

It's safe to say,

There's a good chance

you made his day.

He loved people,

There is no doubt

He liked to visit

Liked to find things out

Not in a gossipy sort of way

That was not Jim's kind of way,

He simply cared

Took an interest you see,

He just enjoyed knowing

About you and me,

He loved his Jesus

With all his heart

He leaned on him greatly

He did from the start,

After he surrendered,

Back in 78,

From that time on

He served love from his plate,

He enjoyed little kids

Had a heart for the old,

He loved to sing,

Had a faith that was bold,

Took care of his mom

With kindness and care,

Took her for rides,

They were quite a pair,

They gardened together,

Made apple sauce,

As boys worked on their farm,

He was a fun, friendly boss,

He was a farmer

Through and through,

He embraced all the things

That grain farmers do,

Then there was that day

Five years ago,

When things changed forever

An accident you know,

He found himself living

Life in a chair,

But Jim did not let it

Stop him right there,

He had such a way

Took things in stride

He had a strong faith,

With His God at his side,

He came to reside

At the AC home

He brought so much joy

With his wheelchair to roam,

Stopping to chat

Or to say a kind word,

Leading his table

In reading God's Word,

So now as our Father

Has called him above,

We will miss him greatly

And all of his love,

We know he spent time,

Lifting our kids up in prayer,

They all loved him so,

For them, he was there,

He was willing when asked

To give us a hand,

He loved taking rides

To check out the land,

He was good at knowing,

Who was related to who.

He loved reunions

And fellowship too,

And so now as he's gone

To a much better place,

May we remember his patience

Remember his grace,

Be thankful for him

And the good that he shared

As we too look to Jesus

And the home He's prepared,

Knowing that someday

A reunion will be

For those who love Jesus

For eternity,

 So now as we lay

Dear Jim to his rest

We thank God that through him

We all have been blessed.

Thank You and God Bless!!

Thank you friends and family for coming along on this musing and marveling journey the last three and half years. The journey is not over. There is still plenty of musing and marveling to do. But for now, I have come to a place of pause and reflection. As 2023 rolls to its close, I am considering taking a step of faith to put this into a book to be shared with those I love, and those who love (or will love) Jesus! All along, it has been about using God given stories and random analogies to encourage and inspire, as together we let life point us to our life-giver, Jesus! And that is my prayer for each of you dear readers...that you may be encouraged, each day, to continue on in this Christ-following journey. Look to Him! Shine for Him! Love Him! Share Him! It is what we are called to do! For this life is all about serving our Lord and bringing others to the Father's throne of mercy and grace, that place where we all find hope, purpose and peace. And to each of our precious grand-c...
I am musing about.... Taking a Selah moment Selah! You see the word used often in the Psalms. What does it really mean? It has been thought that it could mean to "take a pause", to stop, think, reflect, let what you just read or heard really sink in. Last Sunday in church, the minister had us all take a "Selah moment".  For an entire minute the large sanctuary filled with potentially stirring/whispering congregants was hush still. As we all thought and pondered, either about something from the first service or an interaction we had during the fellowship time (thus were the instructions anyway) peace sank deeper into my heart. It was powerful. It helped cement in my mind some great thoughts from the earlier service, thoughts that could have easily slipped away. What a great idea! May we all take frequent "Selah moments". Times to pause, take notice, reflect and praise. After reading His Living Word. Selah. In the midst of a noisy crowd. Selah At your comp...

Just What is it About this Time of Year?

I am musing and marveling about.... Just what is it about this time of year?? It is a time of "peace on Earth, good will to men". It is a time of universal sharing, caring and giving. It is a time when people open their hearts, their homes and their pocketbooks. It is a time of nostalgia; a time of dreaming. It is a time of childhood wonder (no matter your age), It is a time of chorales, symphonies, caroling and ..... humming.  It is a time of togetherness, a time for connectivity (or at least a desire for it). It is a time of extreme busyness (pre-Covid anyway) and yet a time we yearn for quiet and pause. It is a time of reflection. It is a time of memory making and memory stirring. It is a time of healing or a time when healing feels so needed. It is a time of emotion, when feelings reign strong. It is a time when grief hits harder and joys abound more fully. It is a time of beauty and serenity and warmth. It is a time of reaching out and reaching in. It is a time of cozy...
