Traffic Lanes

I am musing about....

Traffic Lanes

We just got back from a beautiful road trip to the sunny south. Traffic was a part of life for awhile...and it got me to thinking.  About the traffic lanes of life.

Sometimes we find ourselves on a road well traveled, and at other time we are on a more isolated, possibly lonely albeit scenic route.

We need to be aware of those around us, to be looking out for their wellbeing, as well as our own.

Sometimes we are in the fast lane, so to speak and things are clipping along smoothly and quickly. But while there, we may find ourselves almost on cruise or auto-pilot, going through the motions, but not taking in the beauty of our blurred surroundings.

At other times, God places us in a jam of sorts. Our patience is tested. Our own desires are circumvented, but with the right attitude, we have time to look around and take in what is around us. Sometimes the view will be something beautiful and breathtaking and we will be thankful we are there.

Other times, the view will be disturbing or unpleasant and we will want to hurry on through. But we can't.  We realize, in taking time for prayer, that it gives us a chance to reflect and consider. And maybe God gives us a vision or tweaks our sense of purpose.

There will be those times that we go straight ahead and at other times our navigation has us veering to the right or to the left, to take a new route or another way. The important thing is that we have our navigation on and refer often to it, to our Biblical map.

If we want to get to our destination we need to know what it is. We need to stay focused and "on track".   In our humanness, when we make a wrong turn, may we be thankful for the convicting voice of our God telling us to "recalculate" and for His merciful love in redirecting us back to the way we should go.

May we be courteous, signaling correctly and safely, abstaining from ragefully blaring, not cutting in front of others, gracefully allowing others to "merge in".  Even facilitating the process when able.

How thankful I am that God is my passenger as I journey through this life. Let me reword that. May He always be the driver, and I the passenger, for in that scenario the trip will be blessed and someday the beautiful destination will be reached. The waypoints that we experience along the way will be worthwhile and the beauty we observe, the blessings we experience will hold wonder and meaning. For thus is God's travel plan as we traffic the lanes of life!

God Stories. What's yours?

I am marveling at God stories. What's yours?? Our daughter has a good friend. Her name is Stephanie. She is creative, talented, bubbly, sensitive and loves Jesus! And she wrote a book. For kids. About God. Called Always Remember . It is different then most kid's books. It has a poetic lilt which is beautiful, but atypical in its cadence. It's wording is unique; yet lovely. It is simple and it is deep.  It's premise is pivotal, declaring Truth! It is almost layered in that each reading of this basically simple book helps peel back another level of understanding and appreciation. It is a book that is actually instructional. It should be read often as a way to reflect and then to live. The main theme is teaching kids (and adults alike) to... Stop. Ponder. Remember God. To see Him every day in everything. To align daily with who He is. It is beautifully illustrated, with large colorful pictures that engage, teach, enlighten and intrigue. She shared how the book was firs...

There once was a fly....

I am musing on a story that begins like this.... There once was a fly. There once was a fly. It lived in Salt Lake City. More specifically, in Kingsbury Hall on the campus of the University of Utah. Kingsbury Hall is the Performing Arts Center. So that fly had the opportunity to view many productions. Last night, that fly was viewing a televised production that likely millions were watching. As that fly buzzed around, it decided to land on a nice head of white hair. And stay there awhile. Little did he know, that he was sitting on the head of the Vice President of the United States. Little did he know how important the role of Vice President of the United States is. Little did he know how important the upcoming election which was being debated is. Little did he know how much of that country's future was at stake. Little did he know how many prayers were being offered for that man upon whose head he sat... and  for those he works with Little did he know of the challenges that...
