Free to Destruct or Thrive

On this Veteran's Day, I am musing about how we are...

FREE!

Free.... to destruct or thrive!

0h THANK YOU Heavenly Father for the free nation that is ours! THANK YOU to our service men and women of today and to all those who willingly fought and unselfishly gave...so that we could be free.

Free to let our voice by heard, to worship as we please, to vote our conscience!

Are these freedoms being challenged? Yes! Is free speech being censored? Yes! Oh there are concerns...ample concerns!

So, a disclaimer of sorts. Is what I am about to relate my own humble, personal opinion?  Yes, it is. I am basing it on God's Word which is where I obtain my world view. Which is where I find Truth. Dear readers, I surmise that most of you agree with me, but if you do not, that is your right. We both have rights to express our opinions. And that is because we live in a country that allows us this privilege! And for that, I am thankful! Aren't you?

So, getting back to my message. Yes, there are concerns...but the fact still remains....we are blessed with a way of life that allows us to live our way of life. Whatever that "way" is.

And there-in lies my great sadness.

In this last election, the people spoke. The mindset of our nation was revealed.

There is obviously a large section of our great nation who align with values antithetical to God's Word; values that ultimately lead to sadness, heartache and destruction.

It breaks my heart. Many do not even comprehend the values that many of us stand for. They just "do not get it".  In their quest for self actualization and their promotion of freedom to "do their own thing" they are oblivious to the potential consequences. For most, they have never been taught or shown anything different. Their upbringing, peers, educational authorities and media influences have shaped their world view.

May we pray dear ones! Pray hard! May we love dear ones. Love real! May we love their souls. Many that hold values different then us are kind, helpful and loving people. They are just misinformed and misaligned.

Many seeking the worldly options promoted by our culture, are finding themselves hurt, disallusioned,  and struggling.

May we be willing to share Truth and the Gospel when and where we can. May we pray that souls would be open to it, that they would listen.

I heard a great analogy recently from a visiting preacher. He shared that it is not up to us to always make the touchdown, but to just move the ball forward! After-all, only the Holy Spirit can take a soul into the endzone and to spiritual and eternal victory.

So, on this Veteran's Day, let's reflect on our part in preserving our nation, God willing.

Our dear veterans fought and gave their lives which today we gratefully commemorate.

Now...may we "fight the good fight" for right principles and devote our lives to help those around us see...

that our God given freedom should be used to help souls (and thus our nation) to thrive and not to...

destruct!

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1Tim. 6:12 ESV

The Gift of Art and Creative Contributions

I am marveling at                                                                                                           the Gift of Art and Creative Contributions! Wow. What a lovely day. My legs are tired, but my heart if full. Hubby and I biked another portion of the Hennepin Trail today. Beautiful and historic! So of course, our love affair with God's beautiful creation was stoked. But surprisingly, so was my appreciation for Art. We enjoyed biking past one lock after another, those old engineering marvels from the early days of the 20th century. The trail we biked along was a link to days gone by. For it was the same old pathway utilized by mules as they hauled the barges laden with grain and supplies along the canal joining the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. How I appreciated the old steel rusty structures, the bridges and the locks, with their levers, gears, arches and spokes. They spoke to me of the past. As did the old path itself.   There were relatively few people o

What I Saw Today

I am musing...                                                                                                            ~11/2020 about what I saw today I stepped into the med room this morning. It is a little room off of the west side nurse's station.  It was quiet back there. And what I saw made my heart sing with a sense of grateful comfort. There on the counter, someone had left an open Bible. It was sitting there, a testimony that someone had likely taken a moment to grab a deep breath  and glean some divine words of encouragement. It was still open, inviting others to also partake from the comfort of it's living pages. Like for so many, this has been a really tough season for all of us. Nurses, aides, administration, housekeeping, dietary, activities....we all have found ourselves caught up in a reality we did not realize we had signed up for. The extra logistics, anxieties, regulations. uncertainties, fogged up glasses, claustrophobic masks, staffing challenges, reside

God Stories. What's yours?

I am marveling at God stories. What's yours?? Our daughter has a good friend. Her name is Stephanie. She is creative, talented, bubbly, sensitive and loves Jesus! And she wrote a book. For kids. About God. Called Always Remember . It is different then most kid's books. It has a poetic lilt which is beautiful, but atypical in its cadence. It's wording is unique; yet lovely. It is simple and it is deep.  It's premise is pivotal, declaring Truth! It is almost layered in that each reading of this basically simple book helps peel back another level of understanding and appreciation. It is a book that is actually instructional. It should be read often as a way to reflect and then to live. The main theme is teaching kids (and adults alike) to... Stop. Ponder. Remember God. To see Him every day in everything. To align daily with who He is. It is beautifully illustrated, with large colorful pictures that engage, teach, enlighten and intrigue. She shared how the book was firs
