"Give it a Rest"

I am musing about....

A Spoon-holder.

Yep:)  When we travel, I like to purchase something that is practical, something that I can use, and as I use it, it can remind me of a sweet and memorable time.

And so, recently I purchased a ceramic spoon holder; it is coming in handy, easy to wash, works well...

But on that spoon holder (written in colors that go with my kitchen, yes, I am a little OCD that way:) )....it says, "Give it a rest, Right here".

A place to lay down my spoon, soiled from the workings of stirring and blending, a place to let it rest...

I know. We are talking about a spoon here. :)

But, I think you know where I am going with this. Where do we take our busy lives, soiled by the stirrrings and blendings of our day to day interactions and commitments, and "give it a rest"?

How blessed we are that we can lay them at the cross. Give them all to Jesus. Our ups, our downs, our joys, our concerns, our questions, our supposed answers, our dreams, our hopes, our aspirations, our struggles, our everything...

Give them to Jesus. Lay them down. Give it a rest...

"Come unto me all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matt. 11:28

A story of a story of The Story

Updated:  Jul 19, 2023 So I have a story. A sweet story. It has to do with my Dad. I love my Dad. He is caring and helpful. He is intelligent and thoughtful. He loves God. He loves his family. And, he wrote a book. A children's book. He called it Ben and Kit. Let's back up a bit. For years, our folks would head down to Florida for the winter. They enjoyed their time there. It gave them a chance to pursue some interests. And to just relax. My mom is a painter. I wrote a blog about her awhile back. You may recall of the winter that she was given an opportunity to paint a mural on the wall of a lanai for a lady that she met down there. She painted a lovely beach scene and had so much fun doing it. She did a great job! Our Dad was proud of her. He shared of how Mom was enjoying this creative venture. We all were happy for her. But I felt a little bad for Dad, who was left alone somewhat while mom was away painting. After all, that was not their norm, for they usu...

Free to Destruct or Thrive

On this Veteran's Day, I am musing about how we are... FREE! Free.... to destruct or thrive!  0h THANK YOU Heavenly Father for the free nation that is ours! THANK YOU to our service men and women of today and to all those who willingly fought and unselfishly gave...so that we could be free. Free to let our voice by heard, to worship as we please, to vote our conscience! Are these freedoms being challenged? Yes! Is free speech being censored? Yes! Oh there are concerns...ample concerns! So, a disclaimer of sorts. Is what I am about to relate my own humble, personal opinion?  Yes, it is. I am basing it on God's Word which is where I obtain my world view. Which is where I find Truth. Dear readers, I surmise that most of you agree with me, but if you do not, that is your right. We both have rights to express our opinions. And that is because we live in a country that allows us this privilege! And for that, I am thankful! Aren't you? So, getting back to my message. Yes, there...

God Stories. What's yours?

I am marveling at God stories. What's yours?? Our daughter has a good friend. Her name is Stephanie. She is creative, talented, bubbly, sensitive and loves Jesus! And she wrote a book. For kids. About God. Called Always Remember . It is different then most kid's books. It has a poetic lilt which is beautiful, but atypical in its cadence. It's wording is unique; yet lovely. It is simple and it is deep.  It's premise is pivotal, declaring Truth! It is almost layered in that each reading of this basically simple book helps peel back another level of understanding and appreciation. It is a book that is actually instructional. It should be read often as a way to reflect and then to live. The main theme is teaching kids (and adults alike) to... Stop. Ponder. Remember God. To see Him every day in everything. To align daily with who He is. It is beautifully illustrated, with large colorful pictures that engage, teach, enlighten and intrigue. She shared how the book was firs...
