Lilacs and 2 Cor. 2:15

I am musing about....

Lilacs! Ahhh, who does not love the sweet, inviting, pleasing aroma of Spring's olfactory candy!

When one walks by a blooming lilac bush...one can hardly help but stop, draw a deep breath and allow the lovely scent to bring a touch of joy to one's heart.

The refreshing aroma permeates the air.  It shouts "Spring"!  It says..."happy"!

Doesn't it?

Doesn't certain lovely scents, often associated with Spring time, just elicit an emotion of happiness?

And that is what the Bible says that we as Christians do for God.

What?

Yes.

2 Corinthians 2:15 states that "For we are unto God a sweet savor of Christ"

So, as Christians, people should be able to "smell us" of sorts...

Our presence should be noticeable to those around us in a way that reflects well for Christ, in a way that elicits a pleasing scent and sense and draws  others to us and ultimately to the source of our joy.

How do we do that?

May we daily ask God to work IN and THROUGH us. May we allow the Holy Spirit's residence within us to be active in the way we live out our day to day lives.

May we show kindness, thoughtfulness, patience, goodness, helpfulness, honesty, compassion, generosity and hospitality.

May the Fruit of the Spirit be evident, like a basket of freshly gathered produce.

May we tap into His grace and thus His (much needed) help every day, that we may walk intentionally in a way that draws others to Him,

...to help others experience happiness in our presence,

because we give off a sweet life style fragrance that "smells like" and consequently points to... Jesus!!

And when we do that, the Bible says that we actually are like a lovely perfume to our Holy Creator! It brings Him happiness! 💜

Free to Destruct or Thrive

On this Veteran's Day, I am musing about how we are... FREE! Free.... to destruct or thrive!  0h THANK YOU Heavenly Father for the free nation that is ours! THANK YOU to our service men and women of today and to all those who willingly fought and unselfishly gave...so that we could be free. Free to let our voice by heard, to worship as we please, to vote our conscience! Are these freedoms being challenged? Yes! Is free speech being censored? Yes! Oh there are concerns...ample concerns! So, a disclaimer of sorts. Is what I am about to relate my own humble, personal opinion?  Yes, it is. I am basing it on God's Word which is where I obtain my world view. Which is where I find Truth. Dear readers, I surmise that most of you agree with me, but if you do not, that is your right. We both have rights to express our opinions. And that is because we live in a country that allows us this privilege! And for that, I am thankful! Aren't you? So, getting back to my message. Yes, there...

God Stories. What's yours?

I am marveling at God stories. What's yours?? Our daughter has a good friend. Her name is Stephanie. She is creative, talented, bubbly, sensitive and loves Jesus! And she wrote a book. For kids. About God. Called Always Remember . It is different then most kid's books. It has a poetic lilt which is beautiful, but atypical in its cadence. It's wording is unique; yet lovely. It is simple and it is deep.  It's premise is pivotal, declaring Truth! It is almost layered in that each reading of this basically simple book helps peel back another level of understanding and appreciation. It is a book that is actually instructional. It should be read often as a way to reflect and then to live. The main theme is teaching kids (and adults alike) to... Stop. Ponder. Remember God. To see Him every day in everything. To align daily with who He is. It is beautifully illustrated, with large colorful pictures that engage, teach, enlighten and intrigue. She shared how the book was firs...

Thank You and God Bless!!

Thank you friends and family for coming along on this musing and marveling journey the last three and half years. The journey is not over. There is still plenty of musing and marveling to do. But for now, I have come to a place of pause and reflection. As 2023 rolls to its close, I am considering taking a step of faith to put this into a book to be shared with those I love, and those who love (or will love) Jesus! All along, it has been about using God given stories and random analogies to encourage and inspire, as together we let life point us to our life-giver, Jesus! And that is my prayer for each of you dear readers...that you may be encouraged, each day, to continue on in this Christ-following journey. Look to Him! Shine for Him! Love Him! Share Him! It is what we are called to do! For this life is all about serving our Lord and bringing others to the Father's throne of mercy and grace, that place where we all find hope, purpose and peace. And to each of our precious grand-c...
