Something Funny Happened...

I am musing about writing...

"Something funny happened"...

Isn't that a good way to draw someone to your post?

It is light hearted, and bodes of fun and likely laughter.

We all love that right?

My last post was kind of heavy, somewhat deep, skirting controversial issues, yet pointing back to Truth and hope and Jesus.

I was ready for something light hearted and fun. Are you?

So here is a funny little situation that I can share...

But first a disclaimer. This is not laugh out loud hilariously funny, so don't expect too much. It is simply a cute, ironic fun little story. Something "light-hearted" if you will :)

So, last week I headed out to our daughter and her family in IN. and was blessed to watch their three precious and energetic little boys while they had an afternoon and evening away. You see, our daughter decided to surprise her hubby by attending an event that she knew he would enjoy. She purchased tickets and wrote on the calendar to "keep open" (or something like that). When our son-in-law saw that on the calendar, he thought "oh no!" For he had actually done the same thing; purchased tickets to the same event with the hope of surprising her:)  I thought that was so cute. Great minds thinking alike. Thankfully, they were able to sell back one set of tickets. They had a great time.

The only point I want to make with all of this...is simply to share a cute and fun little story. To have a light hearted post.

But I do have a Spiritual perspective that I just can't help but share.

Even as we all crave the blessing and joy of being light hearted and not weighed down with the cumbersome trials and challenges that can sometimes be part of this earthly life, we can find great encouragement as we reflect on the Truth of the following scriptures.

"Cast all your care on him for he cares for you"  1 Peter 5:7

"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give your rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. for my yoke is easy and my burden is light."  Matt. 11:28-30

Let's quickly unpack these Truths.

Picture this. We are going along through life. Challenges, heartaches, burdens and concerns start to weigh down upon us. Are you with me? Have you been there? Are you there? I would venture to say, in one way or other, we all are!

Then we stop. We pray. We open up to God. We share our heart. We intentionally cast our burdens, concerns, heartaches and challenges over to Him. With renewed faith, we recognize our relationship with Him. That as His child we are under His yoke, He is with us, beside us, feeling and knowing the same burdens, concerns and heartaches. He is there. And with that comes a sense that the burden feels lighter. After all, it is He who is bearing it. So we let Him do the guiding and we thankfully lean in on Him and once again, in the midst of life's challenges....

we find ourselves with a sense of  Holy peace, and maybe even a light- heartedness.

May we all lean into our yoke bearer Jesus today.

Thank You and God Bless!!

Thank you friends and family for coming along on this musing and marveling journey the last three and half years. The journey is not over. There is still plenty of musing and marveling to do. But for now, I have come to a place of pause and reflection. As 2023 rolls to its close, I am considering taking a step of faith to put this into a book to be shared with those I love, and those who love (or will love) Jesus! All along, it has been about using God given stories and random analogies to encourage and inspire, as together we let life point us to our life-giver, Jesus! And that is my prayer for each of you dear readers...that you may be encouraged, each day, to continue on in this Christ-following journey. Look to Him! Shine for Him! Love Him! Share Him! It is what we are called to do! For this life is all about serving our Lord and bringing others to the Father's throne of mercy and grace, that place where we all find hope, purpose and peace. And to each of our precious grand-c...

A story of a story of The Story

Updated:  Jul 19, 2023 So I have a story. A sweet story. It has to do with my Dad. I love my Dad. He is caring and helpful. He is intelligent and thoughtful. He loves God. He loves his family. And, he wrote a book. A children's book. He called it Ben and Kit. Let's back up a bit. For years, our folks would head down to Florida for the winter. They enjoyed their time there. It gave them a chance to pursue some interests. And to just relax. My mom is a painter. I wrote a blog about her awhile back. You may recall of the winter that she was given an opportunity to paint a mural on the wall of a lanai for a lady that she met down there. She painted a lovely beach scene and had so much fun doing it. She did a great job! Our Dad was proud of her. He shared of how Mom was enjoying this creative venture. We all were happy for her. But I felt a little bad for Dad, who was left alone somewhat while mom was away painting. After all, that was not their norm, for they usu...

Free to Destruct or Thrive

On this Veteran's Day, I am musing about how we are... FREE! Free.... to destruct or thrive!  0h THANK YOU Heavenly Father for the free nation that is ours! THANK YOU to our service men and women of today and to all those who willingly fought and unselfishly gave...so that we could be free. Free to let our voice by heard, to worship as we please, to vote our conscience! Are these freedoms being challenged? Yes! Is free speech being censored? Yes! Oh there are concerns...ample concerns! So, a disclaimer of sorts. Is what I am about to relate my own humble, personal opinion?  Yes, it is. I am basing it on God's Word which is where I obtain my world view. Which is where I find Truth. Dear readers, I surmise that most of you agree with me, but if you do not, that is your right. We both have rights to express our opinions. And that is because we live in a country that allows us this privilege! And for that, I am thankful! Aren't you? So, getting back to my message. Yes, there...
