I am musing about...
feeling grove-y, I mean.... groovy.
Many of us who came of age in the 70's can relate to the lyrics from that happy, sappy song from Simon and Garfunkel about "feeling groovy" (The 59th Street Bridge Song).
During this Covid season, I must admit that the words have gone through my mind more then once:)
How apprapro....
"Slow down, you move too fast
You got to make the morning last
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy"
Just kicking down the cobblestones
Looking for fun and feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy"
"Hello lamppost, what'cha knowing
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
Ain't you got no rhymes for me?
Doo-ait-n-doo-doo, feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy"
I've come to watch your flowers growin'
Ain't you got no rhymes for me?
Doo-ait-n-doo-doo, feeling groovy
Ba da-da da-da da-da, feeling groovy"
Yep, we have slowed down.
And it has been good.
Watching flowers grow? Why not?:)
Another way to "stop and smell the roses" right?
And I get a kick out of noticing the iconic lamp-posts, or kicking down cobblestone streets. It is nostalgic. welcoming and quite refreshing, in an almost child-like way:)
So, yesterday morning, sitting on our patio, during my devotion time...... I was enjoying the slowness of the morning. After a time, I looked around me. And I noticed the birds.
So, yesterday morning, sitting on our patio, during my devotion time...... I was enjoying the slowness of the morning. After a time, I looked around me. And I noticed the birds.
I mean, I really noticed them. And I wondered about them. I wondered....
Do "morning doves" only call out their haunting greeting in the mornings?
Do birds get that stomach thrill feeling when they swoop through the sky like I do when on a roller coaster?
Do the birds decide where to land before they take off, or just make a quick decision right before they alight?
Do they look down on us grounded humans and feel sorry for us?
Do they look down on us grounded humans and feel sorry for us?
Seeing the various birds perched on branches of neighboring trees, I wondered....Do they know each other?
Weeellll, slowing down is good.
But maybe, just maybe...it is time for me to pick up the pace a bit? Haha:)
But despite the challenges and the hard of 2020 thus far....sometimes I do find myself enjoying the slower pace.....and feeling a little groovy:)
