Constantly Abiding

I am musing about.... Constantly. Abiding. Our 3 year old granddaughter was here recently. What a delight she is. It was so precious to see her run after the fireflies in the cool of the summers eve; as she romped through the grass in  her long sleeveless dress, arms outstretched, eyes opened wide, a look of awe on her sweet innocent face:) And then when she caught one, how intrigued she was as she looked it over. And I of course had my camera (phone) ready, trying to capture the beauty of her delighted expression in the light of the blink of a glow from the firefly's intermittent light.  The problem was that I never was able to capture "that moment". The firefly would light up, I would "click" for a pic, and that quick the light was gone. Over and over again I tried. And over and over again I failed to get the perfect shot. Always a millisecond too late it seemed. Later I got to thinking. I should have been videoing it! Of course. What was I thinking. The ongo...

Numbered Hairs

I am marveling at  Our Numbered Hairs God has numbered our every hair. Not only does He know how many hairs we have, the actual number of them, but He has numbered them;  every one of them! He knows, when you combed your hair this morning, just which of  the tens of thousands of hairs fell out. He knows the exact number of hairs now attached to your scalp, He knows that #35,249 ended up in your brush bristles today. It seems pretty amazing. But then...we are talking about God the Creator. He who is beyond amazing. Beyond our fathomability. He who created our hairs, of course can number them. And even better.....of course, He can take care of us!  Our wonderful, marvelous, caring Creator God!!                                                                        ...

Milk to Meat

I am musing about.... Milk to Meat Recently our daughter, son in law and their three boys were here for the weekend and we had some fun with a coconut. You see, when I was a kid, my mom bought a coconut once. It was highly unusual. We had not ever seen one before (if I recall correctly).  It was hard, and brown and hairy. My Dad proceeded to open it up and to show us kids the watery coconut milk inside. We even got to sample it. We then were able to taste the pure white meat of the fruit. It made an impression for some reason. We did the same thing once with our kids. And what do you know....now we gave our grandkids a similar experience. Not that big of a deal. Just something a little fun and educational. As we drained (from the coconut's "eyes") the clearish, sediment sprinkled "milk" into a glass, the little boys looked on in wonder. When the coconut split open in their Dad's hands the boys let out a little squeal of delight. Looking at the meat of the ...

My Love/Hate Relationship

I am musing about... My Love/Hate Relationship with technology! I am sure I am not alone. Sometimes I wonder how I ever lived without it. Other times it is about all I can do to live with it! Like yesterday. It was quite exasperating! Our printer had recently "bit the dust". I am taking a class and the printer is pretty valuable right now. So the other evening we got a new printer. The next day was "set up time". It should have been "simple" but it was not. I needed to connect my printer via the HP App. In order to do that I needed a wireless connection. I was unable to access the wireless connection because the screen told me I first needed the HP App. Right. (That was what I was trying to do!)  After quite some time with tech support...they told me to just take it back. So we did.  We got a new one and hoped this one would connect to wireless the way it was supposed to.  Then later on that evening, I came across a site where you could virtually try on ...

Moving Past Covid

I am musing about.... Moving past Covid! Isn't it wonderful to see things getting back closer to normal? At least in the way of no masks (or at least a lot less), open venues,  full or near full churches, larger gatherings, graduations and weddings, open restaurants, decreased hospital Covid admissions, ongoing declines in the Covid stats, etc. I am so thankful for the way our church, school and community handled the past 15 months; with a conscious effort to keep the health of others in mind, respect the feelings and convictions of others, but still continuing to do life as meaningfully and actively as possible, considering the restrictions and alterations that had to be made. For many, we have thankfully gotten through it fairly well. For others, it has been horrible. We all have a story. Everyone was affected in one way or another. Or in many instances, in many ways. The pandemic has left much in its wake; heartache, challenges, affected health, political unrest, crazy cultural ...

Ponies and Prayers

I am musing about..... Ponies and Prayers A friend of mine posted a fun question on Facebook the other day. She asked "What would your occupation be if you had followed your childhood dreams?? So I answered her. Don't laugh now. I answered....a Jockey. Yep! You see, as a kid...horses were pretty much my life. Well, a good part of it, anyway. I LOVED them. Still do;)  My siblings and I "walked beans" for Dad, pulling weeds. We were given so much per row. Usually we would take 4 rows up and  4 rows back; 2 on either side of us. It brings back some pretty fun and nostalgic memories! Well, one year, Dad told me that I could get a long awaited and begged for pony as my pay. Wow, was I excited! The family that was renting our previous farmhouse were really "into" horses and had found a pony for me! What a bonus for me (not sure how my folks felt about it), when the pony turned up pregnant and we got a cute little newborn foal as part of the deal. We named them ...

Pomegranites and Cures

I am musing about.... Pomegranates and Cures What if everyone on earth had a fatal disease of cancer; in one form or another. What if I told you that I had gone to see Mr. Knows it All, the renowned Great Physician who specializes in love and knew the cure for all cancers? What if that cure was Pomegranates? The kind you could only get from the Great Physician. But you had to BELIEVE that these Pomegranates were the cure. You had to follow the instructions laid out by the Great Physician. You believed the story that the Great Physician shared of how His own son had to give His life, be buried and become part of the soil from which the Pomegranates were grown. That this Son miraculously was restored and was now helping his Father in the Pomegranate business? A business that was not about making money but restoring lives? What if it had gotten around via the media that Pomegranates were the cure. What if people had tried them, but they were getting their Pomegranates from a differe...
