Musings and Marvelings on my Jesus Journey

 Jesus wept. He did. The Bible says He did. Despite the knowledge He had of the glorious, life-giving end result in the case of Lazarus's death, yet He wept He was able to connect in spirit with those who were hurting. He was able to feel their pain, to comprehend their plight. May we like Jesus weep with those who weep.  May our "heart be broken for that which breaks His". May we allow ourselves to think beyond ourselves, to experience beyond ourselves in a way that others will know that we care beyond ourselves. We all have days when our skies look dark. When they are dark.  But as many of us live in and try to "look on the bright side " of life, (by God's grace), may we be aware that there are people who's side of life is really not all that bright.   Let us take the time to allow ourselves to go there. In our minds, our hearts, our prayers and if and when able...in our own lives.  May we be attune to the Spirit. When He says "Go", may we go...

 It is Thanksgiving week. Thankfulness is a beautiful thing. With a thankful heart the world looks better. We have had an unprecedented and challenging 2020. But it is time to consider "Mr. Turkey Thankful Feathers"!  When our kids were young we sometimes would have them cut out colorful construction paper feathers to put on "Mr. Turkey". I am sure many of you did/do the same thing with your kids:) Of course each of the kids needed to write something on their feathers that they were thankful for. And so, we too should start gathering our feathers. There is a dear resident at the home where I work. Her mind is not what it used to be; time and age have taken its toll. But the other day as I approached her, she looked at me. She had a radiant smile. She tapped on her chest and said clearly and knowingly, "I have grown. Spiritually I mean." It was a beautiful and inspiring encounter. So this year, can we say that too? "I have grown. Spiritually I mean....

   I am musing at  The Greatest Common Denominator Have you ever noticed that someone "likes" or comments on one of your friend's Facebook posts and you wonder "How does she know her ?" It is always kind of fun and intriguing when someone you know knows someone else you know, and they seem to come from completely different demographics. For example, maybe one of your friends from High School happens to know one of your friends from a past job that was in a different city. "What is the connection?" you may wonder. My mind took this thought quite a bit further. All the way to Heaven actually. When we get to Heaven and look around, there will be one thing that draws us all together. The one connecting reason that each of us is there! Most likely, as we enter the glorious realm above, we will be in such awe, and awash with such wonder at His merciful grace and love for us, so taken aback by the indescribable beauty around us,  that our completely sanctifi...

  I am marveling at how the Light shines through   Don't we all love light? Light glistening on a mountain lake. Light shining through a colored leaf. Light creating a mood of awe and serenity as it colors the evening sky. Light breaking through darkness at the flip of a switch. Light flickering hope by the glow of a candle in a darkened room. Light providing warmth from the crackle of a fire blazing bright on a chilly fall night. Light in the eyes as they twinkle with comprehension. Light upon the face of a child looking up at love looking down. Light creating that "happy" that seems to resonate with us all as we lift up our faces to be kissed by the sun. Light shining forth at daybreak; splitting the eastern sky with the hope of new day. Light. Jesus  shared this Truth.... "I am the light of the world.     I am musing about....   Casting   So I cast my vote yesterday. By mail. And I sent it off with a prayer (one of many) and with faith in the ruler of all Rulers . I had planned to vote in person, but with Covid starting to hit closer to home and to work, I opted to assure I could vote, and sent for a ballot. What a campaign season it has been! When it comes to being politically informed, we have all turned the awareness corner! We have access to information available at our finger tips The problem is we do not always know what to believe. We need wisdom and discernment. And a lot of it. This season has served to heighten our awareness of the need for prayer. It has strengthened our resolve to trust in the only source of absolute Truth! Our God! And in that we find peace and consolation. So much seems to hinge on the results this time. It seems we have come to a fork in the road. What kind of America lies ahead for us? And for our grandkids? There may be some who a...

 I am musing.... about trick or treat So it is that time of year. This is not really about the holiday. That would be for another post. But as this day approached a thought occurred to me of a spiritual nature. Satan is a deceiver. He wants to trick us. Each one. He wants us to mask ourselves with non authenticity. He wants us to try to be somebody we are not. He wants us to try to impress others. He wants us to live a life of lies and deceit. He wants us to hide under the mask of denial (of sin), rationalization and subtle idolatry. He wants us to wear a mask. To live life as a meaningless and dangerous masquerade. He wants to trick us. But God on the other hand wants us to take off that mask and to allow Him to create in us a new person. He wants us to be real, open, repentant and vulnerable. To come to Him, face to face and heart to heart. To allow Him to have His way with us, day by day....to form us more and  more into His likeness. And in that He will delight. And he wil...
